San Antonio Community Leader
Shannon May- Army Veteran Vice President, West
“As a US Army veteran, I was privileged to walk hand and hand with those who fought without hesitation to protect and serve our country. I also know firsthand that what they have lived through leaves lasting scars, sometimes not seen by others. I lost my own father an army veteran of the Vietnam war to suicide and since then have made it my mission to save other families from that devastating loss. I’ve spent the last two years building a community of veterans and first responders who together are dedicated to fulfilling that mission.”
“San Antonio is affectionately known as ‘Military City USA,’ not only because we’re home to three military bases, but also because we have one of the highest populations of retired veterans in the country. Many of these veterans require support in various forms, and The Guardian Community is dedicated to providing that aid. Whether it’s through organizing weekly golf outings where veterans and first responders can connect with peers, or addressing other needs that may arise—we’re here to help. The Guardian Community, comprised of veterans and first responders, understands the challenges in accessing necessary resources. If you or someone you know could use a helping hand, don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here to assist in any way we can.”
As the leaves change color and the air carries the scent of autumn, Thanksgiving beckons us to count our blessings and share our abundance. In the spirit of gratitude and giving, Guardian Community is proud to announce our partnership with local churches to bring warmth, comfort, and a bountiful Thanksgiving dinner to families in need within our community.
